BIBI HANUM INTRODUCES IKAT TO MUMBAI, INDIA AUGUST 17-18, 2017
Recently Bibi Hanum brought its brand new collection to Mumbai – the most populous city of India. Bibi Hanum’s presentation was at the Ladies’ Wing exhibition for women entrepreneurs that was organized by the IMC Chamber of Commerce and Industry of India. It is a premier business and professional women’s organization with over 2200 members, consisting of entrepreneurs, managers, professionals and women from leading business houses, which began in 1966 as a forum for creating socio-economic awareness and encouraging the spirit of enterprise is today, a dynamic organization for the empowerment of women.
This event was a good networking and trade exhibition which was dedicated to help women entrepreneurs showcase their work and achievements and be supported with the trade opportunities. The exhibition was attended by thousands of ordinary people as well as business representatives who could enjoy over two hundred beautifully designed booths presented by leading and aspiring women who own businesses.
For Bibi Hanum this trade show was another opportunity to promote its products and expand its customer base in India.
The collection that Bibi Hanum presented to its customers included ikat kaftans, skirts combined with different colors of ikat, jackets, long kimono style ikat dresses and ikat chapans that had beautiful hand-woven trims that were made in card-weaving technique.
Seeing Mumbai was fabulous. It was interesting to see the crowds of people and amazing historical architectures that stayed after the British colony. Since Mumbai was celebrating its 70th anniversary of Independence Day, there were many events taking place in the streets. There was the Freedom Run marathon in which 700 students from 10 Colleges took part. Even the smallest streets were filled with students in their special t-shirts.
